The IMdlDb plugin itself

You can download and install it directly from Mozilla's website. It will start working after a reboot of firefox.

How does it work

When browsing imdb, the plugin will check if the current page is a movie page. If it is, it will add a series of links to launch searches on Google.

You can specify the arguments of this search by choosing the hosts you are searching for (rapidshare, megaupload, Free.fr, Filefactory, Netload, Filefront, Hotfile, Mediafire and more to come) keywords you want to add to your search (details of the release such as dvdrip, 720p, ...) or exclude from it (trailer, screener, ...). You can also choose how fresh the links must be (one day, one week, ...).

Why does it works

A lot of warez boards use the IMDB link to give information about the movie they uploaded. By searching this link and the pattern of the host you want your files on, you end up finding direct links to the movie you are looking for on various boards all around the world.

IMdlDb works with the following hosts

  • free
  • gigaup
  • hotfile
  • mediafire
  • megaupload
  • yousendit
  • zshare

Is there more to come

Maybe if I get inspired ;) But the idea beyond this addon is more to prove a point than to really give you all the material you want (even though it happens to be a consequence of the proof).

Bugs will be corrected of course (if there is any).
